Whether you’re planning a relaxed family lunch, a countryside walk in the Surrey Hills, afternoon tea in a fancy hotel, or something a little more adventurous, here are the best things to do for Mothering Sunday in Surrey this year.

Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 15^th March  2026, so now is the perfect time to plan ahead.  It is always a special occasion when you can spend quality time with your mum and show how much you appreciate her.

As Mother’s Day falls at the start of spring, it’s the perfect time to get out and enjoy some of Surrey’s beautiful gardens.  If the weather is kind, this is one of the loveliest ways to spend the day together.

Spring lambs, blossom and stunning views make this time of year especially lovely.

For something a little different, how about a visit to the Sculpture Park near Farnham?

With hundreds of contemporary sculptures set in ten acres of gardens and lakes, it’s a really enjoyable day out.  There’s also a pub across the road, if you wish to make a day of it.

If your mum is the adventurous type, head to Alice Holt Forest and book onto Go Ape.

You could combine your treetop adventure with a woodland walk and picnic or café stop, making it a memorable way to spend time together as a family.

For a relaxed but special experience, book brunch or a vineyard tour at Denbies Wine Estate near Dorking.

The panoramic restaurant has great views over the vineyard and your mum can enjoy tasting their finest sparkling wine.
