The story of Pretty Woman
If you’re anything like me, you probably already know the story of Pretty Woman. I’ve watched the film so many times, as it’s such classic rom-com.
Way back in the 1980s Vivian, a prostitute, met Edward a billionaire and both their lives changed forever. He hires her to be his escort for 6 days, as a hassle-free solution to getting a date. She is broke and works on the streets, so really has nothing to lose.
Watch as Vivian finds out what it’s like to enjoy the high life in LA, and Edward discovers there is far more to life than work. Lose yourself in the romance as they overcome their differences and quickly fall in love (spoiler alert!).
Our review
If you’re a fan of the film, you’ll love this stage adaptation. I’d previously read a few negative reviews, so had low expectations, but thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. It has singing, dancing and humour, all the elements for a fantastic night out.
The musical version of Pretty Woman doesn’t stray too much from the film. It retains much of the original story line and main characters but includes some additional humour and whole lot of singing!
Amber Davies had a hard act to follow after Julia Roberts but makes a great Vivian. Oliver Savile stars alongside her as businessman Edward. Together they make a convincing couple, as they romance the week away.
Natalie Paris plays Vivian’s friend, Kit de Luca. She has an impressive voice that fills the auditorium. Dennis the Bellboy and Barney the Hotel Manager win over the audience, with their light-hearted humour.
The musical features original music and lyrics from Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, with a grand finale with Roy Orbison’s Pretty Woman.
Pretty Woman is a classic fairy tale story, where the girl meets her Prince Charming. I’d highly recommend the musical if you want a show with the feelgood factor.

We’re lucky to live near the New Victoria Theatre, as it gets the top shows from London, without the journey! We can get there in under half an hour and park within a few minutes’ walk of the theatre. This all adds to a fantastic evening.
