Windsor Illuminated
One of our all-time favourite Christmas light trails in Berkshire is at Windsor Great Park Illuminated. Each year, the projections just seem to get more imaginative and creative.
As you take a leisurely stroll through the woods, keep an eye out for woodland creatures darting through the trees and fairies floating above. Cast your eyes across the water for some of the best reflections around. It really is a feast for the senses!
Along the way, there are several stops for hot drinks and snacks, and the trail finishes with a number of fairground rides, making it a perfect Christmas family event for all ages.
Christmas at Legoland
The Legoland® Resort in Windsor will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland, complete with twinkling lights, a giant DUPLO® Christmas tree and festive shows and entertainment. It’s perfect for a family-friendly Christmas day out or special weekend break with your little ones.
Christmas at Kew
Although we’ve not yet been, Christmas at Kew is undoubtedly one of the UK’s most popular and acclaimed illuminated trails, with tickets selling out fast.
Just over the borders, it’s a brilliant option if you’re looking for Christmas light trails near Berkshire. The famous botanical gardens are transformed with sparkling lights, shimmering reflections on the water, and seasonal music that makes the whole experience feel magical.
And for families, don’t forget to keep an eye out for Father Christmas along the way!
Spectacle of Light, Welford Park, Newbury
From 17th October 2025 you will be able to enjoy a dazzling Spectacle of Light in the gardens of Welford Park in Newbury.
The dog-friendly, illuminated trail will take you on an enchanting night time adventure, which will show the woodlands at Welford Park from a different perspective. Enjoy a spectacle of lights, colour, and sound at one of the best light trails in Berkshire.
Glow 25 at RHS Wisley
A good way to kick-start the festive season is with a visit to Glow at RHS Wisley. We went last year and absolutely loved it. Just 40 minutes from Berkshire, this is one of the top light trails in Surrey.
Follow the illuminated trail to see the famous Surrey gardens transformed with colour, light, and festive sparkle. The walk takes you along beautifully lit pathways and ends with a spectacular finale in front of the iconic Wisley house.
The Christmas Illuminated Adventure at West Green House
Just across the Berkshire borders in Hampshire, West Green House is hosting a brand-new Carnival of Animals Trail in its gardens.
Part of the Christmas Illuminated Garden Adventure, the mile-long illuminated trail features brilliantly lit bears, owls, peacocks, and more. On selected weekends, families can also visit the manger at the end of the trail, where children have the chance to meet and pet the animals.
To round off the evening, festive food and drinks will be served in the Orangery. Just a short drive away, it’s an excellent choice if you’re looking for Christmas light trails near Berkshire and one of the most family-friendly Christmas events in the area.
Leonardslee Lights
Last year’s visit to Leonardslee Lights was one of the highlights of our festive events in the run-up to Christmas.
Just over an hour from Slough, the woodland gardens are transformed with light, sound, and colour. The illuminated trail winds through the grounds and down to the lakes, where the stunning suspended earth installation reflects beautifully on the water.
The trail at Leonardslee Gardens takes around 60–90 minutes to complete. Afterwards, you can enjoy the lively Christmas Market and funfair, making this one of the best Christmas light trails in Sussex and a great choice for families looking for festive events with something extra.
Festival of Light, Newbury
Head to the Corn Exchange in Newbury to join the celebrations as Newbury town centre transforms into a twinkling wonderland.
The light procession takes place at 4pm on Sunday 14th November and will depart from Northbrook Street before arriving at the Market Place. Visitors to the Festival of Light can enjoy live music and a festive atmosphere.
