The performance starts at 7.30pm and the running time is 2h 5m with an interval. Come early and enjoy a beer on stage at the bar.

The Story (Without a Plot… and That’s the Point)

Unlike a traditional musical, The Choir of Man doesn’t follow a structured storyline. Instead, it invites you into The Jungle, a fictional British pub where a group of men gather to sing, laugh, share stories, and celebrate the sense of community that pubs have always offered.

The Poet — played with warmth and charm — guides the audience through the evening, introducing each of the pub’s regulars and giving glimpses into their lives. It’s gentle, funny, and surprisingly moving, touching on themes of friendship, belonging, and men’s mental health.

But really, the show is all about the music — and what a soundtrack it is. Expect everything from Queen to Sia, The Proclaimers, Adele, and even Luther Vandross, all reimagined with gorgeous harmonies and infectious energy.

The Cast & Performances

The cast of nine are exceptional — each one bringing their own personality and talent to the stage.

  • The Poet holds the show together with humour and sincerity.
  • The Handyman delivers an incredible tap routine that had the whole theatre cheering.
  • The Beast serenades an audience member with a tender acoustic moment.
  • The Maestro transforms 500 Miles into a classical piano piece.
  • The Joker, The Romantic, The Bore, and the rest of the gang each bring something unique, whether it’s comedy, vulnerability, or vocal brilliance.

One of the joys of the show is how much the cast genuinely seem to enjoy performing together — the camaraderie is infectious, and it spills out into the audience.

Immersive Pub Fun

Part of the magic of The Choir of Man is how immersive it is. Before the show even begins, audience members are invited up on stage to grab a drink from the working bar. Throughout the performance, the cast hand out pints, toss crisps into the crowd, and weave through the aisles singing.

It’s chaotic in the best possible way — warm, welcoming, and full of good‑natured fun. Even if you’re not usually a fan of audience participation, it’s hard not to get swept up in the atmosphere.

Our Review

We absolutely loved The Choir of Man. It’s joyful, heartfelt, and packed with songs you’ll want to sing along to. The harmonies are stunning, the choreography is clever and energetic, and the humour lands perfectly.

But what really makes the show special is its message. Beneath the laughter and the pints is a gentle reminder of how important community spaces are — especially for men who might not always feel able to open up. It’s handled with subtlety and warmth, never feeling heavy‑handed.
The New Wimbledon Theatre is a fantastic venue for this production, and we feel very lucky to have such high‑quality shows visiting local theatres.

A Special Wimbledon Surprise

As this was Gala Night, we were treated to a wonderful extra moment at the end of the show. Two local Wimbledon‑based choirs, who had been seated throughout the theatre were invited to join the cast in a surprise flashmob‑style finale. The sound of voices rising from every corner of the auditorium was absolutely magical — a perfect ending to an already uplifting evening.

If you’re looking for a night out that’s full of heart, humour, and brilliant music, The Choir of Man is a fantastic choice. Raise a glass, join the chorus, and enjoy one of the most feel‑good shows on tour right now.
