Halloween trail at Priory Farm, Redhill
Treat your family to a spooky Halloween day out at Priory Farm in Redhill this October.
If you are looking for Halloween things to do for younger children, the Halloween Trail at Priory Farm is perfect.
The spooky walk takes visitors on the bewitching nature trail at Discovery Land. The spine-tingling trail leads through the woodlands, across fields and around the lakes at the Priory Farm estate.
The Halloween Trail is open from Wednesday to Sunday in October and during half-term. Admission is £10.50 per person over 2 years (and £8.50 off-peak).

Brick or Treat at Legoland
Another of the best Halloween days out with younger children is the annual Brick or Treat event at LEGOLAND® in Windsor.
The LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort will be transformed into a Monster Party for the LEGO® Monsters. The celebration will see the return of the fangtastic Monster Street, the thrilling Monster Jam Show and the Haunted House Monster Party.

This is the perfect spine-chilling experience for anyone who doesn’t mind scaring themselves senseless on a high-speed roller coaster in the dark!

Howl 'o' Ween at Chessington World of Adventures
Another of the big Surrey theme parks celebrating Halloween is the Chessington World of Adventures. They are putting on some hair-raising Halloween events at the annual Howl ‘o’ Ween event.
Tickets for the halloween event include admission to the theme park and zoo too.

The Ghost Tour of Guildford
The Ghost Tour of Guildford runs every Friday from Easter until the end of November. Tours begin at 8pm in Guildford High Street and follow a route around 20 haunted and mysterious sites in Guildford.
The Ghost Tour lasts 90 minutes and costs £10 for adults and £5 for children (8-16). Dogs are welcome.

Reigate Ghost Walk
Discover Reigate’s murky past and hear tales of mystery, murder and paranormal activity on the Reigate Ghost Walk.

Pumpkin Picking in Surrey
Everyone knows you can’t celebrate Halloween without a pumpkin. So, to get yourself ready, head over to one of the four best pick-your-own pumpkin farms in Surrey.
As well as the fun of choosing your own pumpkin, many of the pumpkin farms in Surrey offer a choice of other Halloween activities and events too.
Garsons Farm, Esher
One of the best places to pick pumpkins in Surrey is at Garsons Farm in Esher. They have thousands, plus lots of other produce too. Pumpkin picking is available throughout October You will need to buy a pyo farm pass and book online in advance. The cost of the pass will be deducted from your pumpkin.

Priory Farm, Redhill
At Priory Farm in Redhill, you can take a tractor ride out to the pumpkin fields. They have over 10,000 pumpkins to choose from, which you can pick on selected days in October. Priory Farm also has its own Discovery Land with Halloween activities for younger children.

Secretts, Milford
Another popular location for pumpkin-picking in Surrey is at Secretts in Milford. Pumpkin Week is between 19th and 30th October 2024. Other Halloween activities at Secretts include a Halloween fancy dress competition, biscuit decorating, a scavenger hunt and glitter tattoos.

Halloween Events near Surrey
The London Dungeons
One of the best spooky things to do in London during October half-term is a visit to the London Dungeons.
The London Dungeons is a fantastic attraction for older kids, whatever time of the year, so is perfect for Halloween. They use live actors and special effects to re-enact stories from 1000 years of London’s dark and macabre past.
It’s a really interactive experience and an easy way to learn about London’s most infamous characters and gruesome historical events. We went during our recent weekend stay in London and loved it.

Shocktober Fest, Crawley, Sussex
One of the biggest Halloween events near Surrey for teenagers is at Tulley’s Farm in Crawley. Just over the Surrey border in West Sussex, Tulley’s Farm is now celebrating 27 years of its Shocktober Fest.
This unique Halloween event invites visitors to try 10 immersive spooky attractions. Watch out as real life actors and special effects do their best to scare you. In addition to the “haunts”, the Shocktober Fest has a Circus of Horrors, a street theatre, and food stalls.
Shocktober Fest runs on selected dates from 4th October 2024. Plus, on the finale night, they hold a big firework display.

Wizard Week at the Watercress Line, Hampshire
The Watercress Line in Hampshire is holding its annual Wizard Week from 26th October 2024.
Wizard Week has a full programme of Halloween activities for younger kids. As well as a ride on the Wizard Express steam train, children can get a face painting, make a wand or watch a magic show.

Halloween Fun at Hever Castle, Kent
If you are looking for ghoulish things to do with kids during October half-term, head to Hever Castle in Kent. They have a programme of Halloween events for children who can dress up in their favourite spooky costumes.
Halloween activities at Hever Castle include planting garlic bulbs to ward off vampires, a Halloween Trail and Ghost stories. Hever Castle also has an amazing adventure playground, which the kids love.

Meet the ghosts of Surrey
With its extensive collection of historic houses, it’s no surprise that Surrey has its fair share of resident ghosts. And there’s nothing better than a day out at a haunted house to get you in the spirit of Halloween.
Here are some of the best haunted houses in Surrey to visit during October half-term.
Halloween at Hampton Court Palace: After Dark
One of the most haunted buildings in Surrey is its royal palace, Hampton Court.
With so many of Henry VIII’s wives meeting their demise in unfortunate circumstances, it’s not surprising that at least three have come back from the afterlife to visit. Hampton Court Palace is the ideal hot spot for paranormal phenomena and even has its own Haunted Gallery.
This Halloween you can meet some of the spooky spirits from the past with a visit Hampton Court. The day time event is a family-friendly experience with light projections and creepy sound effects. You can also join the storyteller to hear spooky talks from Hampton Court Palace’s history.
Spooky stories at Ham House, Surrey
Another of Surrey’s most haunted houses is Ham House, in Richmond-upon-Thames. It is believed they have up to 16 ghosts here. Amongst the things that go bump in the dark are the anguished spirit of a woman in black, the presence of a mysterious man of the stairs and a ghostly dog. And not forgetting, a wheelchair that moves itself in the night.
Take the kids on a tour of this magnificent 17th Century house to see if you can hear the phantoms trapped within the house’s ancient walls! For those of a sensitive nature, the gardens are beautiful and they have a great café.

Betchworth Castle, Brockham
Another ghostly dog roams the ruins of Betchworth Castle near Leatherhead. The black death dog supposedly prowls the castle ruins at night.
Actually, the dog is not the only revenant at the site in the evenings, as this is when the spirit of Lord Hope walks the grounds. He is full of remorse after killing his own son in error, believing him to be an escaped convict.
Loseley Park, Guildford
Or you could head over to the outskirts of Guildford for sightings of another tormented soul. Some believe the historic manor house, Loseley Park, is the haunt of a women in brown who appears in the stairwell.
If she’s not there, stay for a visit the garden and grounds. You don’t need to book in advance.
Surrey's spookiest places
Of course, the phantoms of Surrey don’t limit themselves to inside appearances. Here are some of the spookiest outside places you can go for Halloween days out in Surrey.
Silent Pool, Albury
The small lake near Albury is supposedly one of the most haunted lakes in Surrey. Legend says a young girl drowned in the pool, whilst trying to escape from the unwanted advances of King John. Unfortunately, her brother drowned shortly after when he rushed to her aide. Since then there have been many mysterious sightings and happenings.
Later, it was thought that the author Agatha Christie had drowned here when she went missing from home. However, she reappeared shortly after in a hotel in Harrogate.
After a visit to Silent Pool, climb up the hill to join the North Downs Way for a family walk. Or adults may prefer to head next door to the gin distillery!
An unusual grave at Box Hill, Surrey
One of the best outdoor places to take kids at October half-term in Surrey is Box Hill. Here you can find the grave of Major Labelliere’s, who was buried upside down on the hill in 1800. Apparently, the ghost of this eccentric officer is a regular visitor to Box Hill.
Whether or not the ghost is in attendance, Box Hill is ideal for a free family day out in Surrey. You’ll find a choice of walks including the iconic stepping stones and Box Hill’s natural play trail.

Gibbet Hill, Hindhead
Another Halloween day out in Surrey for ghost hunters is to the top of Gibbet Hill near to the Devil’s Punch Bowl in Hindhead. Three unknown sailors befriended a seaman in the pub. They then followed him and murdered him on the Portsmouth Road.
The sailors were caught and hung at the top of Gibbet Hill as a warning to others. Locals were so worried about the area being haunted that a Celtic cross was erected to ward off spirits and reassure them.
